Methodist’s White, Gregory sweep weekly USA South men’s soccer honors

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. –
The USA South Athletic Conference issued its weekly honors for men’s soccer on Monday, and the Methodist Monarchs swept both honors. Andy White was selected USA South Player of the Week, while Sean Gregory was honored as USA South Rookie of the Week.

It marks the first time this 2005 season that Methodist has been represented in the USA South weekly honors for men’s soccer.

Both players had tremendous games in Methodist’s convincing 11-0 shutout over Chowan last Thursday. White, a sophomore from Sayville, N.Y., recorded a hat trick, scoring all three of his goals in the first half, in addition to an assist. Gregory, a freshman from Georgetown, Tex., scored two goals and added an assist in the rout.

For the season, White is tied for fourth in the USA South in goals scored with five and tied for ninth in points with 11. Gregory is tied for 10th in goals scored in the conference with four.

Methodist (3-6-1) plays next on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Hampden-Sydney.
