September 23, 2007 FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The Monarchs battled through 90 minutes of play, but Virginia Wesleyan prevailed 1-0 on Sunday. The Marlins remain undefeated at 9-0 on the year while Methodist moves to 6-3 this season. Virginia Wesleyan held the majority of the possession in the first half with ten shots. Adam Beck scored on the assist from Travis Cober to give the Marlins the 1-0 lead in the 20th minute. The remainder of the first half went scoreless. The Monarchs had more opportunities in the second half, but couldn't get in behind the defense to even the score. The Monarchs' defense held off the Marlins with Methodist goalkeeper Sean Brennan grabbing nine saves in the match.
