Monarchs slip past Panthers
Methodist remains undefeated in USA South play

FAYETTEVILLE, NC – The Methodist Monarch men’s tennis team snuck past a feisty Ferrum College team 4-3 in a home USA South match on Thursday.  Methodist was without #2 singles player Chris Fletcher, who was out with an ankle injury.

The Monarchs took the doubles point, which proved to be the deciding point in the match.  Keith Criscoe and David Hardy cruised at #1 doubles, but Mike Layton and Matthew Segal won a 9-8 tiebreaker and Andrew Martin and Greg Norman won 9-7.

In singles action, Criscoe (#1), Hardy (#3), and Seigal (#4) were all victorous.  Ferrum's Mike Sampson, Wilson Paine and Stephen Brown all won to make a run at the #7 regionally ranked Monarchs.

Methodist has plenty of action this weekend as they travel to Christopher Newport to play the hosts on Friday and also Mary Washington on Saturday.  They return to Fayetteville to host Averett on Sunday.
