Monarchs Fall to Averett 5-4
Junior Chris Fletcher wins 6-3 and 6-4 at number one singles

DANVILLE, VA-  The Methodist men's tennis team lost their first USA South Conference match on Saturday losing a tight 5-4 contest to Averett University.    The Monarchs move to 6-8 overall and 4-1 in the USA South while Averett improves to 8-4 overall and 5-1 in the conference.

Senior Mike Layton and junior Matthew Siegel won at number three doubles, but Cougars took the other two matches to lead 2-1 going into singles.  Junior Chris Fletcher won at number one singles while junior Louis Cisti (No. 5) and Siegel (No. 6) added the other two wins for the Monarchs.

The Monarchs will face the Piedmont Lions at Averett on Sunday at 1 pm.
