Tennis Competes at Coker Invitational
Men and women kick off the 2006-2007 season in Hartsville, SC

HARTSVILLE, SC-  Both the men's and women's tennis teams competed at the Coker Invitational this past weekend.  The invitational had a number of colleges and universities represented from different divisions.  The women's team was led by junior Jenny Smith placing second in the A flight.  Shannon Vivian was second in B flight while freshman Nicole Giannini placed first in the C flight in her first collegiate tennis event.  Lauren Hulse and Jenny Smith tied for first in the B flight doubles.

On the men's side, junior Chris Fletcher went 2-1 defeating Robert Jenner (6-1, 6-1) and Dan Mascall (6-0, 6-1), both from Barton College.  Freshman Jarrod Bogard also finished 2-1 at the invitational after winning 6-0 and 6-2 against Andrew Roberts from St. Andrews and 7-5 and 6-4 against Brandon Simmons from Barton.

The women's team will travel to the UNC-Wilmington Invite this weekend.  The men will travel to Sewanee, TN September 21-24 to compete at the ITA regionals.
