Criscoe, Miller sweep USA
South weekly men’s tennis
honorsCriscoe selected USA South Player of the Week; Miller tabbed USA South Rookie of the Week FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The USA South Athletic Conference released its first weekly honors for men’s tennis on Monday, and for the second straight week, the Methodist Monarchs swept the awards. The Monarchs’ Keith Crsicoe was selected USA South Player of the Week, while teammate Sam Miller was selected USA South Rookie of the Week. This is the second straight week that Miller received Rookie of the Week honors, while Criscoe received Player of the Week honors for the first time this season. A senior from Southern Pines, N.C., Criscoe won a showdown of regionally-ranked players in the Atlantic South Region as he routed Joe Vasoontara from Johns Hopkins 6-4, 6-1 on Saturday in the Monarchs’ 5-2 victory over 30th-ranked Johns Hopkins. In addition, Criscoe and teammate Chris Fletcher defeated Vasoontara and Hillen Smith 8-3 in doubles play. ![]() Overall, Criscoe is 6-3 in singles and 6-1 in doubles. A freshman from Angier, N.C., Miller defeated Johns Hopkins’ Larry Wei 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 in a thriller at No. 5 singles. In doubles, Miller and partner David Hardy outlasted Rafi Roberti and Nick Kennedy from Johns Hopkins 8-6 Methodist (5-2, 1-0) is off until Mar. 17 when it plays host to Dickerson at 2 p.m. at Monarch Courts. |
