![]() Monarchs’ Fletcher, Miller sweep USA South weekly men’s tennis honors Fletcher selected USA South Player of the Week; Miller tabbed USA South Rookie of the Week FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The USA South Athletic Conference released its first weekly honors for men’s tennis on Monday, and the Methodist Monarchs swept the first week of awards. The Monarchs’ Chris Fletcher was selected USA South Player of the Week, while teammate Sam Miller was selected USA South Rookie of the Week. A sophomore from New Castle, N.H., Fletcher went 2-1 at No. 2 singles since the Monarchs opened the season on Feb. 4. He posted victories over North Carolina Central and Hampden-Sydney. In addition, Fletcher and partner Keith Criscoe are 2-0 in doubles play since the start of the spring season, and that team is ranked third in the Division III Atlantic South Region. ![]() Overall, Fletcher is 5-2 in singles and 5-1 in doubles. A freshman from Angier, N.C., Miller went 2-2 in singles for the first month of the 2006 season, playing at both No. 2 and No. 4. In doubles, Miller went 1-0 with partner David Hardy at No. 1. Methodist (4-2, 1-0) plays host to 30th-ranked Johns Hopkins on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Monarch Courts. |
