Hampden-Sydney Defeats Methodist 6-3
Junior Rob Currier teamed with Dylan Knox to win 8-5 in doubles

FAYETTEVILLE, NC- Hampden-Sydney took a 2-1 lead after doubles to take the 6-3 match win over the Monarchs Wednesday afternoon. Methodist moves to 3-6 this season while Hampden-Sydney improves to 7-1 overall.

Hampden-Sydney won the number one and two doubles matches with senior Chris Fletcher and freshman Matthew Taylor losing 8-6 at number one and freshman Tariq Sheikh and sophomore Jarrod Bogard falling 8-3 at number two. Sophomore Dylan Knox and junior Rob Currier picked up the 8-5 win at number three doubles.

Ranked fifth in the region, Fletcher defeated 8th ranked Will Moss 6-2, 6-1 at number one singles, but the Tigers won number two and three. Sheikh lost 6-1, 6-1 and Taylor lost 6-1, 6-3. The Monarchs needed to win the remaining singles matches and Knox came from behind to win the number four singles 6-7 (8), 6-4, 6-3 to give Methodist a chance. Bogard at number five and sophomore Neil Perron at six started their matches at Monarch Courts and were forced to continue at off campus courts due to darkness. Hampden-Sydney won both matches as Bogard was defeated 6-7, 6-3, 6-0 and Perron lost 5-7, 7-5, 6-3.

Methodist will host Ferrum on Saturday at 1 pm.
