Monarchs Fall
to 14th Ranked Mary Washington
Andrew Fletcher (right) teamed with Chris Fletcher for an
8-5 win at doubles
FREDERICKSBURG, VA- The Monarchs traveled to Mary Washington
for the first round of the NCAA Regional Tournament.
Facing the 14th ranked Eagles, Methodist took an early 2-1
lead after doubles, but Mary Washington went onto win 5-2.

Both the men's and women's teams received automatic bids
INDIANAPOLIS, IN- The NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis
Committee has selected the 41 teams that will participate
in the Championships. The NCAA Division III Women's
Tennis Committee selected 48 teams to compete for the Team
Championship. release

Methodist won four of the six spring championships with four
student-athletes named the MVP
BURLINGTON, NC-
The USA South completed the tournament championships on Sunday,
April 15. The Monarchs won more trophies than any other
school with four, while Christopher Newport won one and Ferrum

Conference Championship

BURLINGTON, NC- The USA South championship was a rematch
from earlier this season between Methodist and Averett.
Averett dealt the Monarchs their only conference loss this
season, but Methodist prevailed on Sunday with a 5-2 win over
the Cougars. Methodist improves to 11-8 overall while
Averett finishes 10-7 on the season. release

FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The Monarchs continued to roll through
the USA South with a 6-3 win over second seeded Christopher
Newport on Saturday. Methodist improve to 10-8 overall
while Christopher Newport finishes 14-9 on the season.

a 9-0 win over Ferrum on Friday morning. The Monarchs

FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The USA South Athletic Conference
has announced its All-Conference awards for men's tennis.
A total of 18 student-athletes have been named to the USA
South All-Conference teams for men's tennis. Six Methodist
student-athletes were honored with All-Conference awards.

Regular Season With Two Wins
Senior David Hardy goes 2-0 at singles and doubles
FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The Monarchs battled out a 8-1 win
over Oglethorpe Saturday morning before coming back and defeating
conference rival Christopher Newport 6-3. With the win,
the Monarchs are tied for first with CNU and Averett.
The Monarchs improve to 8-8 overall and 5-1 in the USA South.
Oglethorpe is 8-6 overall while Christopher Newport is 12-6
overall and 5-1 in the conference. release

DANVILLE, VA- The Methodist men's tennis team lost their
first USA South Conference match on Saturday losing a tight
5-4 contest to Averett University. The Monarchs
move to 6-8 overall and 4-1 in the USA South while Averett
improves to 8-4 overall and 5-1 in the conference.

singles
WILSON, NC- The Monarchs traveled to Barton College
to compete in the North/South Duals on Friday and Saturday
finishing 1-3 with a win over St. Andrews College. The
Monarchs improve to 5-7 overall after losses to Mercy, Limestone

Freshman Andrew Freeman wins at number one singles
ROCKY MOUNT, NC- The Monarchs' traveled to North Carolina
Wesleyan on Monday to face the Battling Bishops in a USA South
Conference match-up. Methodist finished strong winning
9-0 for the second consecutive match. The Monarchs improve
to 3-4 overall and 2-0 in the USA South while NC Wesleyan
moves to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the conference. release

Mike Layton wins at singles and doubles for Methodist
FERRUM, VA- The Methodist men's team took on Ferrum
College in their first conference match of the season on Saturday.
The team swept the Panthers winning 9-0. The Monarchs
move to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the USA South while Ferrum
drops to 1-8 this season and 0-2 in the conference.

Matthew Siegel and Mike Layton combine to win doubles 8-3
CHESTERTOWN, MD- The Methodist men's team traveled to
Washington College on the eastern shore of Maryland on Saturday
to face the Shoremen. Ranked 11th in the region, Washington
defeated the Monarchs 6-3. The Monarchs move to 1-3
overall while Washington moves to 1-1 this season.

2007 at Coastal Carolina
Freshman Andrew Freeman wins first match against Mt. Olive
CONWAY, SC- The men's tennis team opened the 2007 season
with matches at Coastal Carolina University on Saturday.
The Monarchs lost to Mt. Olive College 7-2 and then faced
off against Coastal to drop a 0-7 match. Ranked 13th
in the Atlantic South region, the Monarchs start the season

preseason polls
Golf, lacrosse, softball, and tennis released today
FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The USA
South Conference office released the preseason polls today
for the remaining spring sports. Baseball was released
earlier this month. The polls are based on votes from
each conference member's head coach without voting for themselves.

selected to lead Men's Tennis team
Former student-athlete returns to coach the Monarchs
FAYETTEVILLE, NC- Athletic Director Bob McEvoy announced
Monday former Methodist student-athlete Keith Criscoe has
been hired as the men's tennis coach. Criscoe will take
over for Eddie Luck who resigned last month after two seasons
with the Monarchs. release

Luck leaves after successful two seasons at the helm
FAYETTEVILLE, NC-
Eddie Luck,
men's tennis coach has announced his resignation effective
January 1, 2007. Luck joined the Methodist staff two
years ago and led the Monarchs to the USA South Conference
championship in 2005 and a runner-up finish in 2006.

Men's Tennis Travels
to ITA Regionals
Chris Fletcher and Mike Layton make it to the top eight in
doubles competition
SEWANEE, TN- The men's tennis team traveled to the University
of the South in Sewanee, TN last weekend to compete at the
Intercollegiate Tennis Association South Region Championships.
Junior Chris Fletcher made it to the final four in the singles
competition and combined with senior Mike Layton in the doubles
to compete with the top eight.

at Coker Invitational
Men and women kick off the 2006-2007 season in Hartsville,
SC
HARTSVILLE, SC- Both the men's and women's tennis teams
competed at the Coker Invitational this past weekend.
The invitational had a number of colleges and universities
represented from different divisions.
