Monarchs Fall to 14th Ranked Mary Washington

FREDERICKSBURG, VA-  The Monarchs traveled to Mary Washington for the first round of the NCAA Regional Tournament.  Facing the 14th ranked Eagles, Methodist took an early 2-1 lead after doubles, but Mary Washington went onto win 5-2.

Andrew and Chris Fletcher teamed up to win 8-5 at number one doubles.  Andrew Freeman and David Hardy were defeated at number two, but the Monarchs took a 2-1 lead with a win by Mike Layton and Matthew Siegel.

Chris Fletcher (No. 1) and Hardy (No. 4) took an early lead in the first set of singles, but the Eagles came back to win the first set in every match.  Mary Washington went onto win four singles matches to secure the 5-2 win leaving Fletcher and Louis Cisti (No. 5) unfinished.

The Monarchs finish the season with an 11-9 record ranked 13th in the Atlantic South region.
