Methodist falls to Mary Washington 5-1
Monarchs to play for sixth straight conference title on Sunday
 

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Methodist (15-4), ranked #7 in the region, needed some good competition going into Sunday's conference championship match with Averett and next weekends USA South Conference Tournament.  They got that and more from Mary Washington at Christopher Newport on Saturday.

Mary Washington took five of six singles matches from the Monarchs.  Matt Seigel (#6) took home the only victory for Methodist, winning in a tiebreaker set over Chris Armes.

Methodist will return to Fayetteville to host Averett for the conference title on Sunday at 1 pm.  Should Methodist win they will claim their sixth straight conference title.  Should Averett prevail there would a be a three way tie for first with Averett, CNU, and Methodist.
