May 1, 2007 INDIANAPOLIS, IN- The NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Committee has selected the 41 teams that will participate in the Championships. The NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Committee selected 48 teams to compete for the Team Championship. The teams will play a single-elimination tournament with the first, second and third rounds played at non-predetermined regional sites. The men's quarterfinal, semifinal and final rounds will be played at Washington University in St. Louis. Finals competition will also be held at the Washington U. in St. Louis, May 15-20. On the women's side, the quarterfinal, semifinal and final rounds of the team championship will be played May 15-17 and the individuals championships will be played May 18-20 at the University of Mary Washington Battleground Complex hosted by the University of Mary Washington. The selection of teams for the championships is based on won-lost record, strength of schedule and eligibility and availability of student-athletes. The Methodist men's team enters the tournament with an 11-8 record set to face host Mary Washington (21-8) in the first round. With a win over the Eagles, Methodist will take on Trinity (Tex) (14-3) who received a bye in the first round. The Monarchs received an automatic bid after defeating Averett in the USA South Tournament Championship on April 15th. The women's team will travel to Sewanee to face Principia (9-6) in the first round. The Monarchs are coming off of their own USA South Championship with a win over Christopher Newport in the finals to stand at 18-4 overall. With a win over Prinicipia, Methodist will take on host Sewanee (19-1) in the second round.
