Monarchs open USA South action with 9-0 victory over North Carolina Wesleyan
Methodist wins five of six in singles, sweeps doubles action

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Methodist Monarch men’s team opened defense of its USA South Athletic Conference championship on Thursday with an 8-1 victory over visiting North Carolina Wesleyan at the Monarch Courts. The Monarchs improved to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the USA South.

Methodist won five of its six matches in singles and all five victories were in straight sets. Greg Morgan (No. 5) and Ryan Wheeler (No. 6) both won without losing any games. In doubles, David Hardy and Sam Miller (No. 1), and Morgan and Wheeler (No. 6) both posted shutout victories. The Monarchs swept all three doubles matches

Methodist is off until Mar. 4 when it plays at nationally-ranked Johns Hopkins.
