Monarchs Prevail 9-0 Over N.C. Wesleyan
Freshman Tariq Sheikh won 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) in singles

ROCKY MOUNT, NC- The Methodist men's tennis team added another win on Wednesday at N.C. Wesleyan. The Monarchs shut out the Bishops 9-0 to improve to 6-6 overall and 5-0 in the USA South while N.C. Wesleyan is 6-7 overall and 3-2 in the conference this season.

Senior Chris Fletcher and freshman Matthew Taylor won 8-1 at number one doubles while freshman Tariq Sheikh and sophomore Jarrod Bogard fought off the 8-6 win at number two doubles. Sophomore Dylan Knox and junior Rob Currier won 8-5 at number three.

Fletcher won 6-1, 7-5 at number one singles and Sheikh won the second set tiebreaker to win the number two singles match 6-3, 7-6 (7-5). Taylor won 6-3, 7-5 at number three and Knox took the number four match 6-0, 7-6 (7-1). Bogard won 6-1, 6-0 at number five and freshman Justin Campbell won 6-4, 6-2 at number six.

The Monarchs will travel to Virginia Wesleyan on Friday for a 3:30 pm match.
