March 30, 2007 PRINCE GEORGE, VA- The Monarchs defeated Shenandoah 8-1 on Friday in a make-up match. The Monarchs improve to 6-7 overall and 4-0 in the USA South while Shenandoah falls to 3-9 overall and 0-4 in the conference. Methodist started out strong leading 3-0 at the end of doubles. Seniors Mike Layton and David Hardy won at number one, while freshman Jarrod Bogard and senior Andrew Martin won at number two and junior Ryan Wheeler and senior Chris MacDonald combined to win at number three. Layton lost a tough match at number one before Hardy (No. 2), Bogard (No. 3), Martin (No. 4), Wheeler (No. 5), and MacDonald (No. 6) secured wins for the 8-1 victory. The Monarchs will face Averett on Saturday at 1 pm.
