David
Kurvink will begin his first season at the helm of the Methodist
University Monarchs during the fall of 2008.
Kurvink comes to Methodist after
spending two seasons as the head tennis coach at Adrian College
in Adrian, Mich. While at Adrian, Kurvink worked to rebuild
the men's and women's programs while leading the men's team
to their best season in recent history.
Before his stint at Adrian, Kurvink
spent time as the assistant men's and women's tennis and squash
coach at St. Lawrence University where he received Liberty League
coaching staff of the year honors.
Kurvink found success on the court
as well while attending Moravian College. A 2003 graduate, Kurvink
was a four-time All-Conference player posting a 50-17 record
on the way to earning team MVP honors on three different occasions.
Kurvink takes over for Keith Criscoe
who led the Monarchs to a USA South Conference Championship
and NCAA appearance in 2007. This past season the team finished
9-9 overall while earning a 5-1 record in the conference. Kurvink
will look to replace All-American Chris Fletcher and move forward
with a strong class of returners.
Kurvink earned a bachelor's degree
in clinical counseling psychology and a master's degree in school
counseling and development.
