Methodist Earns 9-0 Win at Virginia Wesleyan
Sophomore Jarrod Bogard won at singles and doubles

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA- The Monarchs traveled to Virginia on Friday for a match against the Virginia Wesleyan Marlins. Methodist took the quick 3-0 lead after doubles and went on to win 9-0. Methodist improves to 7-6 overall while Virginia Wesleyan drops to 5-9 this season.

Senior Chris Fletcher and freshman Matthew Taylor did not give up a game at the number one doubles match to win 8-0. Sophomore Jarrod Bogard and freshman Tariq Sheikh won 8-2 at number two while sophomore Dylan Knox and junior Rob Currier won 8-3 at number three.

In singles, Fletcher won 6-1, 6-1 at number one and Sheikh won 6-4, 6-1 at number two. Taylor played the number three match to win 6-0, 7-5 before Knox won 6-3, 6-2 at number four. Bogard won 6-2, 6-1 at number five and freshman Justin Campbell won 6-2, 6-3 at number six.

The Monarchs will play at Christopher Newport Saturday at 2 pm with a chance to clinch the USA South regular season championship.
