The championship pairing for the 2004 USA South Athletic Conference Tournament is set after third-seeded Christopher Newport knocked off defending USA South Tournament champion Averett in the semifinals 30-25, 31-33, 30-22, 30-27 at the Riddle Center. Christopher Newport had four players record double-figure numbers in kills, paced by freshman Tricia Nelson with 16 kills. Amber Bradshaw recorded 14 kills, followed by Erin Bradshaw with 11 kills and Brittany Collins with 10 kills. Defensively, Jenna Williams recorded 16 digs, while Collins recorded 14 digs and Erin Bradshaw had 10 digs. Collins also added 44 assists.

For Averett, Courtney Peters led the Cougars with 13 kills, while Jessica Hefner had 11 kills and Amy Zecher had 10 kills. Five Cougars recorded double-figure numbers in digs, led by Cassie Byrd with 22 digs and Sara Tucker with 18 digs. Lauren Wells recorded 43 assists.

Christopher Newport now faces top-seeded Greensboro in the championship at 5 p.m.
