Toth and Beck Honored as USA South Athletes of the Week
Both athletes chosen for the first time this season

FAYETTEVILLE, NC-
The USA South has announced their athletes of the week.  The conference gives an award for Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week for each sport active during the week.

Chris Toth, from Chesterfield, Virginia has been named the USA South Baseball Pitcher of the Week.  The junior appeared in one game last week, picking up a victory in the Monarchs, 9-2, win over Ferrum. Toth pitched seven innings without giving up an earned run. In the seven innings, Toth surrendered two unearned runs on three hits and three walks while striking out nine batters.  The baseball team's game scheduled at Bridgewater on Tuesday has been postponed.  The Monarchs will host Capital on Thursday at 4 pm.

Emily Beck has been named the USA South Softball Rookie Pitcher of the Week.  The freshman from Tenafly, New Jersey appeared in two games, picking up one win and one save this weekend. In a doubleheader sweep of Guilford, Beck started game one and tossed five-scoreless innings, allowing just two hits with no walks and two strikeouts to earn her first collegiate win. Beck then earned her first collegiate save in game two as she came on in relief in the seventh inning. Beck got the Monarchs out of a based-loaded jam by recording the final two outs.  The Monarchs travel to Christopher Newport on Tuesday to begin conference action at 1:30 pm.
