Monarch Softball team finishes the season #11 in the nation
Methodist won a school record 39 games this season

FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) released its final poll today, tabbing Methodist College as #11 in the nation.

The #11 ranking is the highest final ranking in school history.  Methodist was ranked as high as #7 this season and was ranked in all six polls (27, 8, 10, 9, 7, 11).  2006 marked the first time a Monarch Softball team cracked the top ten, which they did in four of the six polls.  The Monarchs, who had the eighth most wins in the nation with 39, finished as the highest ranked team from the Atlantic Region.

The 2006 Monarchs re-wrote the record books in terms of team success this season.  The 39 wins was the most in school history and the eight losses also marked the lowest total as well.  The .829 winning percentage was an all-time high and they were also seeded as a #1 seed in the NCAA Regionals for the first time in school history.
