In the first game of the day, the Monarchs took a 2-0 lead in the second inning when junior Rebekah Kelly and freshman Cortney Kerns were walked to start the game.  Sophomore Sara Poling scored Kelly to earn the RBI and sophomore Kayla Talbert hit one through the middle to score Kerns.  In the fifth inning, freshman Megan Hutson was hit by a pitch to reach first when Kelly blasted a triple into the gap in centerfield to score Hutson for the Monarchs' third run.  The seventh inning was played under protest by Methodist head coach Ron Simpson based on the umpires' rule interpretation.  The play was ruled in favor of Methodist for the Monarchs to complete the 3-0 victory.

The Monarchs came back to build a three run cushion in the top of the first inning of game two capitalizing on Hawk errors and a RBI single by Talbert.  In the fifth inning Poling started things off with a double and advanced to third on a passed ball.  Junior Billye Rivas entered to pinch hit and hit a single to center to score Poling.  The Monarchs scored their fifth run in the seventh inning on another RBI by Talbert when she hit a triple to score right field.  Things looked under control until three errors by the Monarchs in the bottom of the seventh inning opened the door for the Hawks to score six runs and steal the 6-5 win.

The Monarchs are traveling to compete in the NFCA Classic March 9-11.
