Monarchs fall 5-0 to Moravian; 39 wins is most in school history

SALISBURY, MD-  The Methodist College softball team had their magical season stymied on Saturday by Moravian College senior pitcher Meagan Hennessy.  The Monarchs managed only two hits and fell 5-0.  The loss concludes the Monarchs season at 39-8; the most wins in the history of Methodist College.  Moravian (36-8) moves on to face Ramapo, who defeated Methodist earlier on Saturday, in the regional final.

Moravian opened the scoring in the first off Methodist starter Jessica Hutzul.  Leadoff hitter Erica Klepeisz reached on an error and scored on Justina Black's RBI double.

Moravian added a run in the third when Beth Paly hit a two out home run.  The would score once more in the fifth off Methodist reliever Jennifer Sorenson to push the lead to 3-0.  The Greyhounds scored two more unearned insurance runs with two outs in the bottom of sixth.

Methodist was unable to get the offense going against Hennessy, who sports a 0.52 ERA for the season.  Hennessy did not walk a batter and allowed only two base runners while striking out seven.

The Monarchs base runners came when Candace Hudgins hit a two out double in the second and Adrienne Acosta singled and stole second in the sixth.
