May 13, 2007 FAYETTEVILLE, NC - After dealing Methodist their first loss on Friday, Emory went on to defeat Lynchburg twice to win the bid to the 2007 Division III Softball World Series in Salem, Virginia next weekend. At the conclusion of the First Round Tournament in Fayetteville, the All-Tournament team was selected including Methodist senior Kristie Kennedy. Kennedy batted .500 in three games including the game-winning home run against LaGrange to start the tournament on Thursday morning. She tallied three other hits during the week to go along with a walk and six putouts in the outfield to hold the Monarchs' opponents to just four runs in three games. Methodist held the lowest runs allowed per game in the tournament while Methodist pitchers maintained the lowest earned-run average with a 0.35. Kennedy concludes her career at Methodist ranked in the top five for career at bats, hits, runs batted in, sacrifice flies and doubles as well as season runs batted in and doubles. |
