May 9, 2008 FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Monarchs looked to make another seventh inning comeback on Friday, but came up short 4-2 to Neumann College. Methodist moves to 35-11 on the season. Rebekah Kelly led off the game with a single to shallow left field and advanced to third on Tabatha Stephenson’s sacrifice bunt. A wild pitch allowed Kelly to score the first run of the game. Neumann came back and put together three hits capped off by a double to the fence in right center by Jennifer Goslin to take the 2-1 lead. In the third inning, Neumann’s Lauren Gallagher led off with a single to second and Caitlin Hanrahan followed up with a single to left field. Angela Sebasto loaded the bases with a single to right and Danielle Hayes hit a single through the right side to score Gallagher and Hanrahan. Angela Sebasto pitched the complete game win giving up just five hits with five strikeouts. Hannah Stutts took the loss in 2.0 innings for the Monarchs while Lesley Hewitt and Emily Beck pitched in relief. Methodist will face the winner of Emory and Ursinus on Saturday at 12 pm. |
