28 wins leads nation; Highest ranking in Methodist history

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Methodist College softball program is pleased to announce that its 2006 Monarchs have been selected as the eighth ranked team in Division III as selected by head coaches in today's NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association) Top 25 poll.

The #8 ranking is the highest in school history.  The 2005 Monarchs were listed as high as #11.  Methodist, currently at 28-6, has the most wins of any team in Division III.  The only south region team ranked higher than Methodist is Louisiana College, ranked third.

The Monarchs have accomplished this feat despite playing only nine home games this season and twenty five on the road or at a neutral site.

The Monarchs, who are 9-1 in the USA South Conference, travel to conference foe Greensboro College on Saturday and are back home on Tuesday versus Salem at 2:30 pm.
