Monarchs sweep weekly USA South Softball awards
Faucette and Sorenson honored


FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. –  The USA South Athletic Conference released its weekly honors for Softball on Monday, and two Methodist Monarchs were honored. 

Player of the Week
Amy Faucette, Methodist - The senior second baseman from Fuquay-Varina, N.C.. helped the Monarchs go 4-0 last week. Over the course of four games, she hit .333 with two RBIs, a double and a home run. Faucette had a walk off double in the seventh against Meredith to drive in the winning run and then had a game winning one out home run in the seventh against Greensboro. Last week Methodist swept both Meredith and Greensboro. Also nominated: Lauren Pleasant, Peace and Katie Anderson, Greensboro.


Pitcher of the Week
Jennifer Sorensen, Methodist - The
Spotsylvania, Va. senior led Monarchs to a 4-0 week as she went 2-0 in the pitcher's circle. She had a 1.31 ERA with 11 strikeouts, 17 hits and one walk in 16 innings of work. Sorensen earned a win against Meredith and Greensboro and picked up a save against The Pride. Last week Methodist swept both Meredith and Greensboro. Also nominated: Brittany Esteps, Averett and Joanie Blevins, Peace.
