#3 Methodist Wins 2-1 Over #6 Ursinus in Seventh Inning

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Methodist knocked off Ursinus Thursday afternoon in a come from behind victory over the Bears. Methodist moves to 35-10 on the season.

Lindsey Schmidt’s single through the left side scored Tracey Olsen to give Ursinus the 1-0 lead in the top of the second. Methodist came back and took advantage of two errors in the bottom of the second for Kayla Talbert to score the tying run.

In the bottom of the seventh, Jennifer Brophy led off with a single up the middle and Cortney Kerns entered to pinch run. Kerns stole second and Jody Eyler came into pinch hit for Ashley Guman. Kerns moved to third on a wild pitch and then slid under the tag at home after another wild pitch to end the game. Methodist finished with the 2-1 win.

Lesley Hewitt went 5.1 innings scattering six hits with three strikeouts while Hannah Stutts picked up the win after 1.2 innings of relief.

Lauren Davis took the loss for Ursinus with six strikeouts on three hits.

Methodist will take on Neumann Friday at 2 pm.
