Monarchs Travel to Carolina Invitational
Junior Todd Sackewitz clears 13-07.25 in pole vault to place 16th

CHAPEL HILL, NC-  The Monarchs track and field team traveled to Chapel Hill Saturday to compete in the Carolina Invitational.  The athletes faced Division I and II competition to gain valuable experience entering the conference championships in a couple of weeks.

Junior Todd Sackewitz placed 16th in pole vault after clearing 13-07.25.  Sophomore Tazz Petty ran the 60 meter dash in a time of 7.07 seconds to place 23rd.  Freshman Brandon Kidd broke the school record for the 500m last week and ran the 400m in 52.92 this week.  Junior Mike Hill finished 22nd in the 200m running in 23 seconds flat. 

Junior Husein Nasiro-Sigo placed sixth in the 5000m in 15:23.43 and ninth in the 3000m with a time of 8:50.52.

The team will travel to the Vince Brown Invitational at Christopher Newport University on Saturday.
