Men’s
relays shine for Methodist at Clemson Relays
CLEMSON, S.C.
– The relay
events were the highlights on Saturday for the
Methodist Monarch and Lady Monarch track and
field teams at the Clemson relays.
Methodist
finished second in the men’s 4x200-meter relay
event as the team of Jeremy McSwain, Michael
Hill, Adonis Stanley and Jackson recorded a time
of 1:28.55. In addition, the Monarch team of
Hill, Jean, McSwain and Taz Petty finished third
in the men’s 4x100-meter relay with a time of
42.23. Finally, the team of Jean, Hill, Dwayne
Johnson and Antony Donaldson finished seventh in
the men’s 4x400-meter relay in 3:43.25.
Individually,
Nevin Rayford placed fourth in both in the men’s
long jump and triple jump. He had a distance of
21-05.5 in the long jump and 44-00.5 in the
triple jump. Hill finished fifth in the long
jump with a distance of 20-02.25, while Petty
finished sixth in the men’s 100-meter dash in
11.23 seconds.
In the men’s
shot put, David Leonard finished fifth (45-05),
DeVonne Armstrong placed sixth (45-03) and Kenny
Brown (45-01), while Armstrong placed seventh in
the men’s discus with a distance of 131-00
feet. In the men’s hammer throw, Anthony Trofe
finished seventh with throw of 153-04 feet,
while Armstrong placed ninth with a distance of
137-06.
For the Lady
Monarchs, Meg Coe finished seventh in the women’s
shot put with a throw of 37-01.75 feet, and
ninth in the women’s discus with a distance of
112-08 feet.
Methodist’s
next meet is the Emory Invitational in Atlanta
on April 1-2.
