Track and Field Resumes at Coastal Carolina
Sophomore Pat Thornell wins javelin throw

CONWAY, SC-  After a weekend off for the Easter holiday, the track and field team traveled to Coastal Carolina for the Chanticleer Classic on Saturday.  The Monarchs were led by sophomore Pat Thornell who won the javelin throw with a distance of 52.74 meters.

Junior Nevin Rayford placed seventh in the long jump (6.25 m) and third in the triple jump (13.51 m) while junior Mike Hill was ninth in the long jump (6.06 m) and Thornell jumped 12.73 m to place ninth in the triple.

The Methodist 4x100 men's relay team finished fifth in a time of 42.29 seconds while sophomore Antwin Shuford placed fourth in the 400 m with a time of 48.42 to round out the men's top ten finishes.

On the women's side, junior Krystal Patton placed eighth in both the 1500 meter and the 3000 meter runs.  Junior Chelsale Hester placed sixth in the 100 m and tenth in the 200 m.

The Monarchs will compete in the Carolinas Track & Field Championships on April 21.
