April 5, 2008 DURHAM, NC - The Monarchs traveled to Durham, N.C. on Friday and Saturday to compete in the Duke Invitational. Seven different student-athletes participated with junior Tazz Petty leading the team with a seventh place finish in the 100 meter dash. Petty finished seventh in the preliminaries in 10.98 seconds with the finals canceled. Senior Mike Hill finished 10th in 11.11 and freshman Greg Bailey ran the 100 in 11.21 seconds for a personal best. Senior Adonis Stanley finished in 11.60 seconds. Bailey led the Monarchs in the 200 meters in 22.44 seconds. Petty ran a personal best 22.52 and Hill was right behind him in 22.55 seconds. Stanley finished in 23.60 seconds. Freshman Keith Durden ran the 400 meter hurdles in 59.77 seconds and also competed in the 400 meter dash to finish in 51.51 seconds. Sophomore Brandon Kidd placed 24th in the 400 meters in 51.11 seconds. Stanley also ran the 400 meters finishing in 52.77 seconds. Senior Tia Imel represented the women in the 100 meter dash finishing in 13.85 seconds. Next weekend the Monarchs will compete at the Carolina Championships hosted by the University of North Carolina - Pembroke. |
