compete in the Elon Inviational
Patrick Thornell sets the meet record in the Javelin
FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The Methodist Track and Field team traveled to
Elon on Saturday to compete in the Elon Invitational.
The Monarchs had several
impressive performances.
Pat Thornell continued his impressive spring with the Javelin.
His toss of 180 feet set a Elon Invitational record and was one
foot farther than his win last week at the Emory Invitational. He
now falls only nine feet away from qualifying for
nationals. Besides conquering the Javelin, Thornell also
placed fourth in the long jump.
In other men's action, Ryan Taylor placed 8th in the 800 meter
runs with a time of 2:15:59
On the women's side,
Tia Imel placed 4th in the women's 400 meter dash (1:05:38) and ninth in
the 200 meter dash (29:43), while Chelsale Hester took 4th in the 100
meter dash (13:41) and 6th in the 200 meter dash (28:44).
Methodist’s next meet is set for April 7-8 at the Duke
Invitational.
