Monarchs Place 12th at Emory Invitational
Junior Krystal Patton finishes fourth in 5000m race

ATLANTA, GA-  The Monarchs' track and field team traveled to Emory University on Saturday to compete amongst 24 teams.  The Monarchs scored 46 points to finish in 12th with combined men's and women's scoring.  The men's team placed ninth at the meet while the women finished in 17th. 

Junior Chelsale Hester finished in fifth place in the 100m in 12.98 seconds while junior Krystal Patton placed fourth in the 5000m with a time of 21:23.09.  On the men's side, sophomore Pat Thornell earned a first place finish in the javelin throw with 57.16 meters.  Sophomore Tazz Petty finished in second in the 100m in 11.18 while sophomore Antwin Shuford placed second in the 400m with a time of 47.87.  The men's 4x100 meter relay team placed fourth and freshman Carlton Wellington placed fourth in the discus throwing 41.03 meters.  Junior Todd Sackewitz placed seventh in the pole vault after clearing 12-06 feet.

The Monarchs will compete at the Elon Invitational on Saturday.
