Buford captures women’s hammer in first day of Emory Classic

ATLANTA, Ga. – Competing in arguably the top NCAA Division III regular season outdoor track and field event, the Methodist Lady Monarchs and Monarchs got off to strong starts on Friday at the Emory Classic.

For the Lady Monarchs, Chemier Buford won the woman’s hammer throw with a school-record toss of 142-2 feet. Buford also placed fifth in the woman’s shot put with throw of 36-4 feet, while Meg Coe placed second with a toss of 39-0.5 feet.

In men’s competition, Anthony Trofe finished third in the men’s hammer throw with a distance of 44-4 meters, while DeVonne Armstrong was fourth with a throw of 43-2 meters.

The Emory Classic continues on Saturday.
