March 31, 2007 A number of athletes placed in the top ten of their event including junior Chelsale Hester's sixth place finish in the 100 m with a time of 13.12. Junior Krystal Patton ran the 5000 m in a time of 20:48.52 to place second while senior Ebony Bedford threw the shot put 7.60 m to place sixth. On the men's side, sophomore Antwin Shuford ran the 400 m in 48.65 to place fourth just off the 48.00 winning time. The men's 4x100 meter relay team composed of junior Mike Hill, freshman Cedric McGill, sophomore Tazz Petty, and junior Nevin Rayford finished third in 42.97 seconds. Rayford also placed fifth in the triple jump (12.92 m) and seventh in the long jump (6.36 m). Freshman Carlton Wellington placed sixth in shot put throwing 12.50 m and fourth in the discus with a throw of 39.55 m. The top finish of the day came from sophomore Pat Thornell winning the javelin with a throw of 51.00 m. The Monarchs will compete at the Coastal Carolina Invitational April 14th. |
