Shuford Competes in
400 Meter Finals
Sophomore finishes the race in 48.04 seconds
OSHKOSH, WI - Antwin Shuford finished another year in Monarch
athletics at the 2007 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field
Championships Saturday afternoon. Shuford was the only Methodist
student-athlete to qualify for the Championships and advanced to
the 400 meter finals after placing in Friday's trials. release

Sophomore qualifies for 400 meter finals after fourth fastest time
in trials
OSHKOSH, WI - Antwin Shuford competed in the 400 meter dash
trials on Friday evening after becoming eligible earlier this season.
Seventeen men qualified in the race. The athletes were broken
into three heats with the winner of each heat along with the remaining
top six times advancing to the finals scheduled Saturday at 2:10
pm. release

Williams Resigns
Williams also served as Cross Country assistant coach
FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Methodist Director of Athletics Bob McEvoy
announced the resignation of Head Track and Field Coach Crystal
Williams effective July 31st. Williams served as an assistant
during the 2006 season before being named head coach in July.
She also served as an assistant to the Cross Country team during
the 2006 fall season. release

Men's 4x100 meter relay team runs provisional qualifying time
LYNCHBURG, VA - The Methodist track and field team traveled
to Lynchburg on Friday for the Last Chance Meet in hopes of qualifying
for the NCAA Outdoor Championships later this week. release

and Seventh at Mason Dixon Championships
Monarchs earn 16 All-Conference honors including two individual
championships
SALISBURY, MD - The long awaited Mason Dixon Conference Outdoor
Championship results are in and the Methodist men's team placed
fourth, while the women placed seventh earlier this month.
Antwin Shuford and Pat Thornell earned individual championships

Junior Krystal Patton wins the 3,000 meter run
PEMBROKE, NC- The Monarchs' track and field team traveled
to UNC-Pembroke on Saturday to compete in the 15th Annual Carolinas
Championships. The women finished in a tie for fourth while
the men finished third on the day. release

at Coastal Carolina
Sophomore Pat Thornell wins javelin throw
CONWAY, SC- After a weekend off for the Easter holiday, the
track and field team traveled to Coastal Carolina for the Chanticleer
Classic on Saturday. The Monarchs were led by sophomore Pat
Thornell who won the javelin throw with a distance of 52.74 meters.

at Johnson C. Smith Invitational
Sophomore Antwin Shuford places fourth in 400 meter race
CHARLOTTE, NC- Methodist track and field traveled to Charlotte,
North Carolina on Saturday to compete against thirteen other teams
at the Johnson C. Smith Invitational. The women finished with
48 points to place eighth while the men placed sixth with 131 points.

Junior Krystal Patton finishes fourth in 5000m race
ATLANTA, GA- The Monarchs' track and field team traveled to
Emory University on Saturday to compete amongst 24 teams.
The Monarchs scored 46 points to finish in 12th with combined men's
and women's scoring. The men's team placed ninth at the meet
while the women finished in 17th. release

PEMBROKE, NC- The Monarchs' track and
field team opened the 2007 outdoor season
participating in the Braves Track and Field
Classic at the University of North Carolina
Pembroke on Saturday. The Monarchs
registered six first place finishes during the

the season, the Methodist track and field team
traveled to Christopher Newport University to

The men and women took advantage of the
preparation leading up to the conference
championships next week.

CHAPEL HILL, NC- The Monarchs track and
field team traveled to Chapel Hill Saturday to
compete in the Carolina Invitational. The
athletes faced Division I and II competition to
gain valuable experience entering the conference
championships in a couple of weeks.

LYNCHBURG, VA- The Methodist track and
field team traveled to their first meet of the
year at Liberty University on Friday. The
Monarchs competed in the distance medley relay
on Friday as well as the 5000m race before the
rest of the events resume on Saturday.
