Monarchs Travel to Liberty On Track Open
A number of athletes achieve personal and season best results

LYNCHBURG, VA -  The Methodist track and field team traveled to Liberty University for the second time this season to compete in the Liberty On Track Open. Several athletes competed to earn personal best times and distances highlighted by junior Tazz Petty's school record and national championship qualifying time in the 60 meter dash.

Petty placed fifth in the 60 meter finals in 6.94 seconds breaking James Barr's six year school record. Senior Michael Hill ran the 60 in 7.11 to place 12th while freshman Greg Bailey finished 21st in 7.19 seconds. Senior Adonis Stanley ran a personal best 7.22 to place 25th overall and Rob Robinson finished in 7.50 seconds.

Petty placed fourth in the 200 meter dash in 22.85 seconds while Hill ran a season best 23.02 to place ninth. Bailey ran the 200 in 23.25 while sophomore Brandon Kidd competed in the 200 meters for the first time finishing 14th in 23.30 seconds. Stanley had another personal best, finishing in 23.88 seconds and Robinson finished in 24.02 seconds. Freshman Keith Durden was the lone Methodist competitor in the 400 meters, placing 20th in 54.11 seconds.

Sophomore Chase Pattillo ran for the first time this season and finished the mile in 5:49.80. Junior Pat Thornell added to the team's performance with a third place finish in the high jump. He reached a personal best at 1.94 meters while placing 10th in the triple jump at 12.22 meters. Kidd, Durden, Petty, and Stanley joined forces to place 11th in the 4x400 meter relay finishing in 3:35.29.

Senior Tia Imel ran the 60 meters in 8.61 for a personal record. She finished the 200 meters in 29.54 seconds. Freshman Lamerica Langley placed 18th in the shot put with a thorw of 27-6.75 feet.

On Saturday, the Monarchs will compete at the Carolina Invitational.
