Monarchs Complete First Meet at Liberty's On Track Open
Sophomore Tazz Petty places fourth in 60m dash

LYNCHBURG, VA-  The Methodist track and field team traveled to their first meet of the year at Liberty University.  The events concluded on Saturday with many Methodist athletes making their first mark of the year.

Sophomore Pat Thornell placed third in triple jump with a jump of 43-01.75 while teammate junior Nevin Rayford came in fourth with a jump of 42-11.50.  Other top ten performances included junior Todd Sackewitz's seventh place in the pole vault clearing 13-09.25 and Thornell's fourth place high jump finish clearing 6-03.25.  Sophomore Tazz Petty qualified for the 60m dash finals and raced to a fourth place finish in a time of 6.97.  Freshman Brandon Kidd ran the 500m in a time of 1:08.60 to come in second overall.  The Monarchs finished ninth in the 4x400 meter relay with the team of freshman Adam Clouse, Kidd, junior Mike Hill, and freshman Keon Hannibal coming in at 3:48.86.

In the distance races, freshman Chase Pattillo placed seventh in the 1000 meters at 3:19.93 and sophomore Adam Farabaugh was close behind in eight place with a time of 3:21.39.  Junior Krystal Patton ran the 1000 meters in 3:41.19 to place eighth.  Junior Husein Nasiro-Sigo followed up Friday's nights second place with a fourth place finish in the 3000 meter run in a time of 8:50.88.

The team will travel to the Carolina Invitational on February 3rd hosted by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
