Monarchs record high finishes at Liberty Record Flash
Thornell records two top 10 finishes for Methodist in field events

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Methodist track and field teams competed in the Liberty Record Bash at Liberty on Saturday, and turned in a few impressive performances.

On the men’s side, Pat Thornell had two top 10 finishes. He placed sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 12.97 meters and placed seventh in the high jump with a height of 1.87 meters.

Kawesi Darby also garnered a top 10 finish. He placed ninth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.11 seconds. Darby also placed 15th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.70 seconds, while Chardonnay Labbon finished 11th in the men’s long jump with a distance of 5.90 meters. In addition, Husein Nasiro-Sigo finished 16th in the mile run with at time of 4:28.32 minutes.

Other finishes for Methodist included Labbon finishing in 26th in the 200-meter dash in 24.46 seconds, while Ryan Taylor (5:07.22) and Corey Rose (5:12.24) placed 37th and 39th in the mile run, respectfully.

For the women, Tia Imel had a time of 8.78 in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash.

Methodist will compete in the Mason-Dixon Conference Championships at Christopher Newport on Feb. 19.
