Monarchs compete in Mason Dixon Conference Championships
Todd Sackewitz second in the Pole Vault; Kwasi Darby second in the 100

NEWPORT NEWS, VA - The Methodist Track and Field team took to the track at the Mason Dixon Conference Championships hosted by Christopher Newport University on Friday and Saturday. 

The Monarchs were without two of their top performers in Pat Thornell and Husein Naisiro-Sigo.  The men finished in seventh place while the women finished ninth.  Host Christopher Newport won easily in team competitoin on both the men's and women's sides.  Salisbury finished second in both as well.

Several Monarchs had impressive performances to culminate their season.

Methodist was led by two second place finishes.  Todd Sackewitz cleared 13'3 to take second the pole vault competition and Kwasi Darby ran a 10.91 for second place in the 100 meter dash.  Darby also placed 4th in the 200 with a time of 22.56

On the women's side, Tia Immel finished 5th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 64.42.

The final three top ten finishes included Chelsale Hester's 13.06 in the 100 meter (ninth place) and 27.21 in the 200 meter dash (tenth place) and Crystal Patton's 2:48.50 in the 800 meter (tenth place). 

With the Conference Tournament, the Monarchs conclude their 2006 season, the first under first year Head Coach Matt Hayes.
