May 13, 2007 Athletes who placed in the top six of their event received All-Conference honors at the meet. Chelsale Hester placed second in the 100 meters (13.06) and sixth in the 200 meters (26.92) while Krystal Patton placed sixth in the 5,000 meter run in a time of 19:46.65. On the men's side, Tazz Petty placed fourth in the 100 meters (11.25) and sixth in the 200 meters (22.87). Nevin Rayford came in sixth in the 100 meters (11.49) before placing second in the long hump (6.59 m) and third in the triple jump (13.30 m). Other All-Conference honors included Mike Hill's fourth place finish in the 200 meters (22.52) and third place finish in the long jump (6.33 m). Todd Sackewitz finished third in the pole vault clearing 4.12 m. Antwin Shuford placed third in the 200 meters (22.45) before winning the 400 meter event in a time of 48.16 seconds. Pat Thornell was fourth in the triple jump (13.25 m), third in the high jump (1.88 m) and then took home the championship in the javelin with a throw of 55.97 meters. The Monarchs will compete in the Lynchburg Last Chance Meet Friday, May 18th. |
