place fourth at Mason-Dixon Indoor Championships
Darby, Nasiro-Sigo win
individual men’s championships
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. –
The Methodist Monarch men’s
track and field team made the most of a small lineup at the
Mason-Dixon Conference Indoor Championships on Sunday at
Christopher Newport. Methodist finished fourth in the six-team
meet with 52 points.
Individually, the Monarchs had two champions. Kawesi Darby won
the men’s 55-meter dash in 6.6 seconds, while Husein Nasiro-Sigo
won the men’s 5,000-meter run in a time of 15:28.95 minutes. In
addition, Darby also finished third in the men’s 200-meter dash
in 23.33 seconds, and Nasiro-Sigo placed fourth in the men’s
mile run in 4:30.69 minutes.
That duo wasn’t alone for Methodist. Pat Thornell placed second
in the men’s high jump with a height of 6-4 feet, and he also
placed third in the men’s triple jump with a distance of
41-11.25 feet. In the men’s pole vault, Todd Sackewitz placed
second with a jump of 12-06 feet. Ryan Taylor placed 11th in the
men's mile in a time of 5:05.
For the Lady Monarchs, Tia Emel placed 11th in the women’s
200-meter dash with a time 30.08 seconds, and Krystal Patton
placed 10th in the women’s 800-meter run in 2:50.25 minutes.
