May 26, 2007 OSHKOSH, WI - Antwin Shuford finished another year in Monarch athletics at the 2007 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships Saturday afternoon. Shuford was the only Methodist student-athlete to qualify for the Championships and advanced to the 400 meter finals after placing in Friday's trials. During the 400 meter finals on Saturday, Bobby Young from Lincoln University won the race in a J.J. Keller Field record time of 46.75 seconds. Shuford finished eighth in the race in 48.04 seconds, three hundredths of a second faster than conference opponent Charles Washington of Christopher Newport University. Shuford became the eighth male in Methodist history to be named a NCAA Outdoor Track and Field All-American. A three-sport athlete, Shuford was a mainstay on the Monarchs football defense in the fall before leading the basketball team in rebounding.
