Women Tie For Fourth and Men Finish Third at Pembroke
Junior Krystal Patton wins the 3,000 meter run

PEMBROKE, NC-  The Monarchs' track and field team traveled to UNC-Pembroke on Saturday to compete in the 15th Annual Carolinas Championships.  The women finished in a tie for fourth while the men finished third on the day.

Chelsale Hester placed fifth in the 100 meters and seventh in the 200 meters while Krystal Patton won the 3,000 meter run in a time of 12:02.27 and placed third in the 1,500 meter race.  Ebony Bedford placed eighth in the shot put. 

On the men's side, Tazz Petty won the 100 meters and Mike Hill placed third in the 200 meters.  Cedric McGill tied for seventh in the 200 meters.  Keon Hannibal finished eighth in the 400 meters while Brandon Kidd placed third in the 800 meters.  Adam Farabaugh placed seventh in the 800 meters and Zach Yonk finished 10th in the 1,500 meter run.  The Monarchs' 4x100 meter relay team comprised of McGill, Hill, Nevin Rayford and Petty won the event in a time of 41.84.  Hannibal placed fourth in high jump while Todd Sackewitz added another win in the pole vault.  Rayford won the triple jump and placed third in the long jump while Hill placed sixth in the long and Pat Thornell placed sixth in the triple.  Thornell went on to win the javelin throw while Farabaugh finished fourth in the event.

The Monarchs will compete in the Mason Dixon Conference Championships May 4-6.
