Methodist opens 2006 outdoor season with solid performances at Seahawk Invitational
Darby, Sackewitz, and Imel each produce Top 10 individual finishes

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The 2006 outdoor track and field season opened on a solid note on Saturday for the Methodist men’s and women’s track and field teams as they both participated in the Seahawk Invitational at UNC-Wilmington.

Overall, there were three individual Top 10 finishes. On the men’s side, Todd Sackewitz placed sixth in the pole vault with a height of 4.15 meters, while Kawesi Darby placed seventh in the men’s 100-meter dash in a time of 11.33 seconds. For the Lady Monarchs, Tia Imel placed seventh in the women’s 400-meter dash in 1:06.27 minutes.

In addition, Krystal Patton placed 11th in the women’s 800-meter run in 2:48.55, while Imel placed 17th in the women’s 100-meter dash in 14.18 seconds. Darby also placed 19th in the men’s 400-meter dash in 55.64 seconds, and Ryan Taylor placed 27th in the men’s 800-meter run in 2:16.43.

Methodist’s next meet is set for Mar. 25 at the Emory Invitational in Atlanta.
