Duane
Ross enters his first year as the Methodist University track
and field coach. Ross joins the Monarchs after completing
his professional career as an Olympian
and world class sprinter.
Prior to coming to Methodist, Ross competed as a professional
hurdler while qualifying for the 2004 Olympics in Athens,
Greece. Ross was a silver medalist at the 2004 Olympic Trials
and earned a bronze medal at the 1999 World Championships.
He is also a two-time U.S. Champion and two-time U.S. Silver
Medalist. He was consistently ranked top ten in the world
in his event throughout his career.
Prior to joining
the Methodist staff, Ross served as an Assistant Track and
Field Coach at Bethune-Cookman College as well as a volunteer
consultant at North Carolina State University. He also served
two years as a volunteer assistant coach for Clemson University,
his alma mater.
Coach Ross has his
USA Track and Field Level 1 certification. He also serves
on the Board of Directors for North Carolina-USA Track and
Field in addition to the Wake County Council for Fitness and
Health.
Ross attended high
school in Dallas, North Carolina before attending Clemson
University where he would become a seven-time All-American,
Five-Time ACC Champion and NCAA Champion. Ross resides in
Garner, N.C.. He graduated from Clemson in 1996 with a degree
in Financial Management and a minor in Accounting.
