Armstrong,
Coe shine for Methodist at UNC Fast Times
CHAPEL HILL,
N.C. –
DeVonne Armstrong and Meg Coe both shined on
Saturday for the Methodist men’s and women’s
indoor track and field teams as Methodist
competed at the UNC Fast Times at North
Carolina. It was the first meet of the 2005
indoor season for Methodist.
Armstrong
finished second overall in the men’s shot put
with a throw of 14.98 meters, while Coe finished
sixth in the women’s shot put and set a school
record in the process with a toss of 12.28
meters. Armstrong also placed fifth overall in
the men’s weight throw with a toss of 13.91
meters.
In addition to
Armstrong and Coe, Anthony Trofe placed sixth in
the men’s weight throw with a distance of
12.98 meters, and seventh in the shot put in
13.07 meters. Chemier Buford finished 12th
in the women’s weight throw in 9.44 meters and
14th in the shot put in 9.65 meters.
Clifton McKoy
also had a strong meet, finishing fifth overall
in the men’s high jump in 1.92 meters and 12th
in the men’s 60-meter hurdles in 8.67 seconds.
In the men’s 200-meter dash, Jackson Jean
placed 27th in 23.81, followed by
Adonis Stanley in 41st (24.28) and
Brad Woods in 43rd (24.41). Woods
also placed 33rd in the men’s
400-meter dash in 55.09.
Jessica
Adams-Alexander finished 36th in the
women’s 200-meter dash in 29.82 and 43rd
in the women’s 60-meter dash in 8.87.
