February 2, 2008 CHAPEL HILL, NC- The Monarchs traveled to Chapel Hill this weekend to participate in the Texas Roadhouse Carolina Classic. Nine different student-athletes were able to compete with a number of them recording personal best performances. On Friday night, Methodist athletes Brandon Kidd, Keith Durden and Keon Hannibal ran in the 400 meter race. Kidd placed 32nd on his way to a personal record 51.82 finish. Durden ran a 54.05 and Hannibal finished in 56.11. The women's team representative Tia Imel had a great day with personal bests in the 60 meters and 200 meters. She finished the 60 in 8.55 seconds and ran the 200 in 28.77 seconds. Tazz Petty qualified for the 60 meter finals placing 14th in 7.03 seconds. Adonis Stanley ran a personal best 7.18 seconds while Greg Bailey finished in 7.26 seconds. Bailey ran the 200 meters in 23.43 seconds while Kidd finished in 23.85 seconds. Stanley ran the 200 in a flat 24 seconds. Freshmen Paris Ryan and Lawrence Dennis ran the mile in their first meet of the season. Ryan finished in 5:12.74 with Dennis running the race in 5:20.39. The Monarchs have one more meet before the Conference Championships on Feb. 23. The team will travel to the Vince Brown Invitational at Christopher Newport University on Saturday. |
