Monarchs Tune Up For Conference Championships at Vince Brown
Junior Pat Thornell placed ninth in the high jump

NEWPORT NEWS, VA-  The Methodist track and field team traveled to Christopher Newport University to compete in the Vince Brown Invitational on Saturday. The Monarchs used the meet as a final tune up approaching the Mason Dixon Conference Championships February 23.

Senior Tia Imel had a great day with a personal best 7.89 second finish in the 55 meter dash. She also ran a personal best 28.58 in the 200 meters. Imel has continued to improve all season and has represented the women well.

Seniors Michael Hill and Adonis Stanley ran the 55 meters for the men. Hill finished in 6.66 seconds while Stanley finished in 6.74 seconds. In the 200 meter dash, Hill placed 11th in 23.36 seconds. Rob Robinson finished in 24 seconds flat with Stanley running it in 24.16 seconds.

Junior Pat Thornell competed in the high jump, triple jump and long jump on Saturday. He tied his personal best of 1.94 meters in the high jump to place ninth overall. Thornell jumped 12.72 meters in the triple to place 10th and then finished the long jump with a personal best 6.13 meters for 16th place. Hill also competed in long jump with a 5.88 meters distance.

The Monarchs will travel to the Mason Dixon Conference Championships at Christopher Newport University on February 23.
