Monarchs Compete at Vince Brown Invitational
Junior Mike Hill places seventh in 200m dash in 23.05 seconds

NEWPORT NEWS, VA-  In their third meet of the season, the Methodist track and field team traveled to Christopher Newport University to compete in the Vince Brown Invitational.  The men and women took advantage of the preparation leading up to the conference championships next week.

On the women's team, junior Krystal Patton ran the mile in 5:53.24 and finished the 3000m in 12:06.22.  Junior Tia Imel competed in the 800m finishing in 2:46.01 and senior LaToya Robertson threw 27-09.50 to tie for 23rd in the shot put.

Sophomore Tazz Petty qualified for the Division III 55m final and placed third in a time of 6.58.  Junior Mike Hill placed seventh in the 200m in 23.05 while teammates Petty and freshman Cedric McGill came in right behind.  Freshman Keon Hannibal ran the 400m in a time of 57.24 and the Methodist men's 4x400 team placed eighth with a time of 3:40.42. 

Freshman Brandon Kidd ran a 2:11.02 in the 800m and Husein Nasiro-Sigo placed 12th in the mile (4:25.30) and fourth in the 3000m run (8:47.94).  In the field events sophomore Pat Thornell cleared 6-01.25 in the high jump to place seventh while freshman Carlton Wellington threw 38-01.50 to place 12th in the shot put.  Junior Nevin Rayford placed fifth in the triple jump (42-04.25).

The team will compete in the Mason Dixon Conference Championships at Christopher Newport University on Saturday, February 18th.
